about Helen Down

Treacle PR is run by just one person: Helen Down. Helen began her career in advertising (JWT, APL and WCRS) before studying journalism at City University while writing for The Independent, The Observer and trade magazines. This experience produced a solid understanding of all sides of the PR equation – client and press alike – by arming Helen with valuable grass roots knowledge of both the marketing and publishing industries.

Helen opted to enter PR in 2003 when she started as in-house PR Manager for Oscar-winning visual effects company, The Mill. After spotting a gap in the market, she established Treacle PR in 2005 to help raise profiles of companies that weren’t in a position to engage PR on a full-time or large agency basis.

Being run by just one person, Treacle PR is able to build strong and focused relationships with clients – and journalists – because work isn’t spread amongst a team. Treacle PR has no unnecessary overheads which means Helen operates in an extremely agile, responsive and cost-effective way.
